i got mugged. like fucking robbed and punched in the head by a gang of black teenagers 3 blocks from my house because we finally decided it was probably just fine to go out at 8'o'fucking clock in the evening. Is it sad that i'm gratefull they just took all the cash out of my wallet and left everything else without beating the shit out of me

and the saddest, most white-idealistic-liberal-canadian-student thing about it, is that i couldn't say anything the whole time because all i could think to say ran along the lines of, "don't prove them right, you're perpetuating a cycle of violence that's ruining this sector's chances at acheiving economic and social equality with the rest of the city, lets go smoke pot together and i'll find you a job"

somehow i don't think it would have helped matters...
