am totally hating constitutional law. it's. so. annoying. they act like it's a real substantive class, but it's just philosophy. speculative history. what do we think the framers had in mind when they wrote this stuff? i don't care. not a bit. what they had in mind was never important. what is important is what they wrote and the language the ( Read more... )

But philosophy is the foundation of, like, everything! Of course it's important! You can't really learn about how different people have interpreted the words unless you know their philosophical reasoning for it, it's not like a science formula.

That's awesome that you are learning to knit. I find that it is a great stress reliever.

I obviously love philosophy and constitutional law sounds really intriguing, but I know that these are things that often sound really exciting until you get into some boring nitty gritty (hehe...knitty gritty...ok, sorry). I wonder whether there are more radical ideas about interpreting constitutional law; I always figured that some people would say it doesn't matter what the framers thought because times have changed and it's a living document, and all that stuff.

A public interest lawyer was telling me recently that I will find some classes in law school incredibly boring and useless; I think every program has a few classes like that where you just can't make yourself interested in it, but you've just got to grit your teeth and get through it somehow.

Good luck with the career stuff; it's never fun.
