i'm watching an hourlong documentary on history international (cable= w00t) about the plight of chinese peasants. and how the government is sort of corrupt and sort of not and some of the ways they try to improve everyone's lot only backfire. it's easy to point at them and say, you red dumbasses, no wonder you're fucking yourselves up, but christ. If you came to MD, I would point you in the direction of my good friend Ian, who I roomed with for 3 years in college. Funny story, he and his wife are living in the house that I lived in with Maria, et al., the one that you saw briefly walking home after your last day at the lab.

Ian is a nut that you probably would say "oh. have seen in class. is giant loudmouth and voice is keeping me from not paying attention."

I don't envy your "having to go get jobbiness." I like that I can be mediocre in the same place for the next few years and not have to worry.

If you get into MD, that would be cool. You can show me how to survive my first year, right? But then again I feel like I am going to have a lot of distractions here, so that is probably a plus and a minus to being in Baltimore.

I think one of my college friends who went to law school had a hard time getting a job after her first year too. I'm sure you will find something; job searches are always rough. Just stick with it and it will work out.
