this post would make a lot more sense (ie, make me a lot more irate) if it were all immigrants that were being treated like vigilantes and if it were our government telling all immigrants that they have to work menial labor.

even though my heart bleeds a lot more than your average amurrican, we really can't have illegal immigrants usurping things like our superior healthcare. from a purely socialist mindset, yes, the whole world should be fighting for one cause (ie, that nobody goes hungry, everyone has law and healthcare, etc), but in reality, we can't afford to feed all these mouths.

LEGAL immigration is just fine; half, if not more, of our department is first-generation immigrants. i have no problem with letting in mexican farmhands as long as it's regulated and they're documented (so that they can pay taxes, etc).

i agree that the politicians in charge are treating this issue like retarded dousches. deport immigrants? yeah, let's kick out half the population of the south! ...hmm, that doesn't sound all that bad...

I totaly agree. The borders should just be open. All of these people fussing over immigration make me sick. It's not about immigration, it's about racism.

Just like the Italians got grief and then the Germans and then the Irish and all the black people all along.

Dear Concerned Workers,

WAKE UP! If you're afraid "the mexicans" are driving down wages, then help them out and get them in the union! Der.

the borders can't just be open for reasons i mentioned earlier; we simply can't afford it. illegal immigrants aren't paying taxes into our system, and yet they're using our infestructure, healthcare, etc. my bleeding heart genuinely goes out to those in our country that don't have access to healthcare or housing (ie, the homeless, etc), but it's not up to us what happens to the homeless and destitute in the rest of the world ( ... )

but isn't there a limit on the # of visas they give out? i recall hearing something from bush in the past few days that he wanted to allow 200,000 ppl on his guest worker program, and i remember thinking, that's not enough. do we have unreasonable limits on the number of ppl from latin america we allow in? is that part of the problem?

i agree that we should be encouraging people to fill out the forms and do it the legit way, but i wonder if part of the problem is that the legit way is unreasonable?

Border Patrol officers in an unmarked vehicle followed it for a few miles. When the SUV turned toward the San Ysidro Port of Entry that connects Tijuana, Mexico, and San Diego, other agents blocked the southbound lanes at the border. As traffic backed up, the suspect vehicle stopped on the shoulder about 50 feet north of the crossing. The agents approached and tried to get the driver to step out of the SUV. When the driver refused, agents smashed the drivers' side window with a baton.

At that point, the suspect "accelerated and nearly pinned an agent standing next to the vehicle," Sferra said. Two agents then opened fire.Shots fired by a Border Patrol agent struck the driver, Sferra confirmed. He said he was not aware of any attempt to shoot at the tires before the driver was shot. The 22-year-old driver, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds, said Maurice Luque, a spokesman for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. It wasn't immediately clear if the driver was armed. The five passengers ( ... )
