firstline_fic Challenges Week #32. “You're kidding . . . right?”
“You're kidding . . . right?”
Chance looked up in annoyance at Ben. He reluctantly accepted that the dude was his older brother. But with the way he walked around with his collar sticking up on the thrift store brown leather jacket, and the Texas-sized 'tude that needed its own seat in the Impala, he was obviously trying to prove that he was Dean Winchester version 2.0.
They mixed like oil and water.
He supposed it was inevitable. This short, skinny dude with a mad-on for the whole hunter’s world seemed to take it personally that Chance had had Dad longer.
“What am I supposed to be kidding about today, short bus?” Chance grinned.
“Always with the short jokes.” Ben grumbled.
“Can't help it if I got the younger brother genes.” Chance shrugged. As far as he was concerned, in the game of genetic poker, he'd drawn all aces: Dad's looks, Uncle Sammy's height, Mom's brains. And Ben?
Well, maybe if he was nicer, he might get the Miss Congeniality vote.
“Dad said that you don't hunt.” Ben apparently inherited Uncle Sammy's bitchface, because he was doing the full-on pouty lip thing.
“Yeah? So?”
“So why don't you hunt?”
Chance shrugged. “ 'cuz I'm saving the world.”
Off Ben's doubtful look, he elaborated. “Seriously, you ever hear of Ra's al Ghul? The Toyman?”
“The Toyman?” Ben scoffed.
Chance rolled his eyes. “Lemme put it this way? You ever get a look at Power Girl?”
“Yeah?”
“I get to work around her. While she wears that uniform. And you? You get to blast bigfoot with rock salt.”
Ben wrinkled his nose in disgust. “Aw, Man!”
Chance smirked at his shorter big half-brother. “Sucks to be you, dude.”
