Hi, I'm Pen Name, and I'm a writer. /waits for response, AA-style/ So it's been close enough to nine months since my last writing binge that I'm hoping this competition lets me give birth to something truly interesting

My ideas don't even stick around long enough to earn working titles. They come over to the bar, buy me a drink, and then disappear while I'm relieving myself.

That's kind of how my novel started. With the characters. I had no idea how my story was going to end up, and my characters surprised me a few times themselves. But it all worked out in the end!

That is a predicament I am SO familiar with. Maybe your little title can move in with my canned short story and the scifi novel I've been ducking calls from.

Sometimes I actually like that feeling, staying with my characters but knowing that first round was a bad choice. They're lucky they get do-overs.
