Operation Barbossa

Operation Barbossa - was the code name used by Nazi Army for the invasion of Soviet Union during WWII. Did you know that the name Barbossa came after a king of Germany called Frederick I, also know Frederick Barbossa for his red beard? Another interesting sidenote:

The Greeks take great pride of their role in WW2. They put up a fierce resistance to the invading Italians, forcing the Germans to head south and help out with the invastion. The German's southern detour may have forced operation Barbossa to start much later, ensuring the onset of winter and the massive setbacks it caused.

That's what the Greeks say anyway. I also read that the Serbian uprising may have also played a role..

Heh, that's nothing! Did you know that Americans were the sole liberators of the whole world in WWII??? ;-)
