Dear Donna,
When you bite that bastard on your first day of school? Bite harder! You'll get in trouble beyond reason for that. Best make it count, yeah?
I can't tell you to listen to your mother more. Goodness knows I still have issue with doing that. But...maybe appreciate her and Dad more. They do love you, even if you really do know best.
I'm kidding. I'm not.
In all cases, defer to Gramps. He knows best, and he loves you more than anyone. Be kind to him, Donna. Go out and spend more time with him outside. Look through his bloody telescope and realize that the telly and the phone will be around when you're old and gray. He might not be. Be the best you can for him, and realize he'll love you regardless of what you do. We both know he deserves your respect. Give it to him.
Be a good friend. You have it in you to be a good friend. Do it.
Finally. This is important, so pay attention, even if you feel yourself wandering a bit, yeah? I know there's a lot of words, but if I can write them, you can read them.
DON'T FORGET.
Anything.
A day is going to come and you're going to feel so empty. You won't understand why you are the way you are, and nothing that's expected of you will make sense. You'll feel entirely different, and there won't be a damn thing you can do about it.
Fight it.
Fight through every damned headache, and when it feels like your head is going to explode in flames, push harder. Don't forget. Please.
Maybe...if you started earlier, I could know.
If - If you can't remember? Don't waste your life being nothing. A life spent well is worth so much more than a life simply spent.
Also? You have the loveliest hair in the entire neighborhood. Feel free to glory in that and smirk a LOT. It's damn beautiful hair and it's earned the attention.
Love always,
Donna
P.S. - Sorry for the language.
