Title: Drabbles: Absence
Pairing/Character(s): Nichkhun/Wooyoung
Rating: PG-13
Summary: It gets less angsty after each one.
A/N: Just four short drabbles. Taking a break from writing the next installment to my Earnest series, which will be up soon...I'm hoping.
Just in Time
It's ticking on three in the morning now, ticking on the last strand of Wooyoung's emotional stability. He's kept himself together for this long, but he feels the seams that hold his heart in his chest twist and twang as they begin to pull apart. He's afraid that if he waits any longer, his heart will explode from his chest and disintegrate before him.
He clutches at his chest, trying to suppress the terrible aching that rocks through him as he's curled up in bed. He's not sure if he'll make it through another night of sleeping alone. The few times he'd been able to stay up waiting, he'd been disappointed to find out that Nichkhun hadn't even made it home. It's not until his mind is almost lost to the only things that comfort him, his dreams, that he feels the lightest nudge on his shoulder.
"Woo, I'm home." Nichkhun breathes against his cheek after he's lowered himself onto the mattress. Wooyoung really tries hard not to cry, but tears fall from his eyes anyway.
"Oh..." he whispers, "Just in time."
Hypocrite
He should feel guilty. Guilty because he was the one who agreed to do the show, even though it would mean the end of what they already had going on. But Nichkhun knows what his priorities are, and that's why he sticks with his decision. Even if it breaks a couple hearts in the running.
He'll admit he's grown jealous though. Jealous of the way Wooyoung looks at others, laughs with others, radiates a glow when he's with others. Jealous that he hasn't noticed Wooyoung broken over him anymore. Jealous that Wooyoung doesn't pay attention to him anymore (even when he's with her).
That's why he doesn't feel guilty when he pushes Wooyoung against the wall, against his will, and forces their lips, their hearts, together again. He doesn't feel guilty when he peels off Wooyoung's clinging arms from himself in the morning. He should feel guilty, but he doesn't.
Because he knows Wooyoung also has someone new to return to.
Betrayal
Nichkhun swears loudly at himself, but not as loud as Chansung swears at him. He glances a little guiltily down at Chansung's laptop that he's just thrown to the floor, but at the sight of the traitorous fansite, he's enraged once again.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS 'WOOTAE' ANYWAY?" he hollers as he throws various home decor to the ground on the way to his bedroom.
For the next few hours, as Nichkhun is locked in his room, an influx of khunyoung support floods the boards of shipping fansites.
Finally
Wooyoung wakes up to a bundle of hay in his face, and only after a few moments, realizes it's Nichkhun's hair. It smells like Nichkhun, smells like him, and smells like something that gives away what they'd been doing during the night. He gives it a weak tug, using it as a handle to turn Nichkhun's face to him.
The morning sunshine spills across the room, illuminating Nichkhun's face and making it shine. Wooyoung feels a little giddy being able to stare at him like this, because jesus, there hasn't been a moment like this in too long of a time. The only thing that disheartens him is the thought of having to get up, but when he looks past the sleeping Nichkhun and sees that there's an hour left before they're to wake, his spirit is rejuvenated, as his heart has been.
