her job: to read everything she can; then, when some cripple comes in and cannot get around to flip thru the books, they tell her what books they have enjoyed in the past and she tells them what books they will enjoy in the future. eight hours a day, paid to read until someone comes in... said she talks to one or two people a week. how do you like that shit?
A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by David Eggers... he also wrote a book about travelling with a friend... kinda. if you're looking for a book to read while travelling, it's a good one... called You Shall Know Our Velocity. there are two versions of the book... one is the story told all the way thru - the other has a chapter added in the middle. if you can find the latter, it is MUCH better with that extra chapter...
