not cranky.. was unaware a cell phone could make such confusion with techy sounding problems which are actually very easy to fix. and usually there are reasons behind odd behavior; whether the person in question wishes to discuss why is their choice.
It's a Motorola Razor, and it was brought back to life after pulling out the battery and praying to the cell deity for about 15 minutes, replacing the battery and charging.
The new weird thing is calls from cells reach me, but calls from anywhere else don't and get a message the number is temporarily out of service or unable to be reached. i r cunfuzzd
Sprint store down the street is the first item on the list tomorrow... well after coffee, but that goes without saying. :)
