I propose a new drinking game while watching the Giants on TV:

Every time Kruk 'n Kuip say "The Money Lies in the RBIs," you should take a drink.  This will accomplish two things:
  1. Possibly make me hate this phrase less (unlikely)
  2. Make me drunk enough by the 3rd inning that I will stop caring.
They interviewed Jeff Kent during the game last night (maybe ( Read more... )

Ha, I am going through friendsfriends and I'm rather amazed to see someone from the old anime/manga blogroll extension of friendsfriends being annoyed by Giants broadcasting.

I have to say that I usually don't mind Kruk and Kuip but I'm wondering if it's mostly because I watch the games at 10PM Central and Kuiper's voice relaxes me so much that I actually go to sleep before midnight. It at least prevents me from seeing so much bullpen fail. (Ugh, Saturday! That was partially Bochy's fault for not knowing that Wellemeyer turns into pumpkin after 6th inning, but.)

Thus the subject line! I do love listening to them, they are practically the voice of my childhood. They've just been repeating that phrase ad nauseum for the last couple days, haha.

Uggghh, Wellemyer. I followed him a couple years ago because he was on my fantasy team for a few months. Pumpkin is definitely accurate. And he allows so many hits and walks that his ERA, when it is low, is just lying to you and waiting to blow up in your face.

The TV broadcast voices of my childhood were Ted Robinson and Jim Kaat. I know Robinson did (and does?) a lot of work in the Bay Area, so you probably know what it was like. As much as I like listening to Bert Blyleven (usually) I miss Kaat and enjoyed the few times he did games on MLB Network last year.

It's usually Krukow with the repeated phrases, isn't it? ;)

I watched Wellemeyer's starts when he was with the Cards on purpose. As a Brewers fan, I enjoy Cardinals losses and if he is not good at least he is fairly ornamental.
