Continuing on from where I left off, now comes the part where I talk about school.
I'm now finishing up my third year at American River College. Every time I think a semester should be easy I get proven wrong. I have general chem every morning which isn't a ton of work, but I do have something due almost everyday. Also when I think I know everything need for my exams I get proven wrong when I go in to take them. I also have a Saturday morning comp sci class which is just as gross as it sounds. Although I do like learning how to write programs, as basic as they may be.
The hardest class I have is my electrical circuits. I really need to just buckle down and do as many practice problems as I can but its hard for me to find motivation sometimes. Luckily I have a good teacher. It's my third time having Dr. Bell and I like his style of teaching. He always has stories about going to college in Vermont and being the only black man in the state. The other day a girl in my class said how he once knocked her down points on an assignment because the pencil she used was too dark for drafting with and I told him I thought he was being a hypocrite for judging how dark something was.
What really slowed me down was about a month back where I had two weeks of everything going wrong, including the thing with my younger sis. Before that I took a weekend off to go down to Santa Cruz and see Watchmen. I would miss a circuits and comp sci class, but I figured I needed a weekend off. Little did I know that circuits class covered an important lecture I would later have to teach myself. Than when our midterm came around the next week I got stuck with the one problem I couldn't do. Which is bad when your midterm is three problems, but damn did I kick those other two in the ass.
The worst repercussion of the trip to Santa Cruz was I missed a job fair at SacState that I thought was the next weekend, and because I bought every ones ticket for the movie I couldn't just blow off the trip.
So yeah. Pretty much I screwed myself.
Not all is bad news though. I've been accepted into SacState for the fall. Also there is an open house coming up for the engineering department which I already rsvped for. They're having a couple lectures, a tour of the facilities, and a part on internships. Should be good.
