In the Pacific Northwest, sunshine is a punchline. Example:

Friend: From our new apartment, you can see the Olympic Mountains... on a clear day.
Everybody else: (Laughs sardonically)

Oh good lord, I remember that. I lived in Tacoma for years and can recall not seeing Ranier for weeks.

New Mexico is just the opposite, though.
