Before I met Alex and got accepted to SCAD? In a heartbeat. No second thoughts. Now, I'd have to VERY reluctantly say "no," which given the way the Companion plots tend to happen would mean that of course I'd get dragged along anyway. :)

I had to think about my response for a minute, though. Does the lack of attachment to someone necessarily mean you'd easily give over and go running off with the Doctor? or similarly, having such attachments mean you'd say no? There might be something to that, but in my case, I'd still want to go, either way -- but I wouldn't want to leave Alex behind. (I'd want to take him with me! Miss the adventure and excitement? ARE YOU KIDDING?)

My mom would take care of my cat, so there's that. And honestly - being able to see the wonders of the known and unknown universe? Maybe it's the scientist in me, but I don't know that I could live with myself if I didn't take an opportunity like that.

I suspect if I had little kids, I'd change my mind from my heck yeah...

I'd have to be able to do something stellar for the left-behinds, though.

As it is, I'd also take a one-way trip to colonize Mars and live in a lava-tube. (http://www.astrobio.net/index.php?option=com_retrospection&id=3134&task=detail)

I guess I have a certain kind of wanderlust? Interstellar, interdimensional wanderlust?

since i really believe nothing in life is certain from one day to the next, except that stuff changes, (unless you're completely stagnant), yes, i'd go. it would be weird and scary life threatening and awesome, but life is often most of those things (my life is not threatened on a regular basis other than when i'm eating my own cooking), but with ALIENS.
