hey, i found your journal by accident. you should read funny boy by shyam selvadurai, its an amazing novel about growing up gay in sri lanka.

actually gayness was much more accepted in certain parts of india historically, but after the british raj it was criminalized and india became much more conservative in that respect.

anyway, i'm just a stranger procastinating on my homework, so great good luck to you. its not easy, but believe it or not, life's not so easy even if you're straight.

the best,
N.

well, my parents think that its a phase and it will go away. i did become suicidal later on, but i got therapy and now i am much better. my parents are better than they were earlier in the year. they used to suspect that everytime i went out, i would do something wrong, including listening to something like gay sermons or speeches which serve missionary purpose, or something of that sort. so they restricted me severely from going outside the house for a while. they are much better right now, and soon we will get family therapy

Tragedy...a family comes to Land of Dreams to get the best time in their lives, and all the sudden son gives a notice in writing that he is gay and suicide attempts of a SON and going through therapy. I am very afraid that sooner or later this situation will come to my home as I have to come out of closet and still try to live my life in the way I am ( to gain respect through family and friends). But Shiven I see that you are very near to the end of this tunnel; the final answer is your parents will adjust slowly accept you as old you.

I'm Indian, much older than you are and have'nt come out to the parents yet. What you did was really brave. Your parents reaction could have been MUCH worse. I can read hindi and I did read your letter. You write very well.

Best of luck with everything

dude, i can read hindi. and felt touched with ur expression... but being suicidal is not at all a solution for anything. Someone sent a message today that "If we fight, we may not always win, but if we don't fight, we will surely lose."

So, all the best wid everything. :)
