Writer's Block: Life With ADHD

People who say there is no such thing as ADHD are lucky enough to not have it as part of their daily life and have the luxury of being blissfully ignorant. I have a child who has been diagnosed (appropriately) with ADHD and is now on medication for it. The meds help her in school and sports, but it only takes the edge off. As you know Penn, my daughter is a teacher. She says that helping children with ADHD can be difficult. Getting their meds to the correct dosage at the proper level and supporting the parents dealing with the child have to be ongoing. My niece was ADHD as a child. She also suffered from severe asthma. When I would visit her family I wondered how they kept sane. Really.
I can't imagine anyone thinking ADHD is all in the imagination. What planet are they living on? Maybe Alaska

Bless your daughter, Lyric! We had a conference with Natalie's teacher just this morning, trying to resolve homework issues. This is 3 weeks into the school year. God help us! :D Sanity is not "kept" it is clung to with bloody nails. ;) :D

I don't usually write much about our experience with ADHD. I use my websites/friends to lighten my life, not to complain about it. But, I saw this Writer's Block thingy that I usually ignore and was just pissed at how many people were so ignorantly flip about the whole thing. Not just ADHD, but the invitation to actually write about something. Does anyone actually make an effort anymore to write thoughtfully? You know me, I'm a big joker. But, if an on-line journal can't encourage people to occasionally leave the banter behind, what will? Maybe I'm just getting old and fuddie. :D
