Christmas Meme Gacked from Ghyste

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?

Both, depending on the gift. Somethings go better into a gift bag. I also like them because I can use them from year to year. I love wrapping gift, though, so some of them just have to be wrapped so I can spend hours coordinating the paper, ribbon, and gift tags.

2. Real tree or Artificial?

We finally went to an artificial tree because it's just too warm and dry here to have a real tree last very long. Half the time, they were already drying out by the time we got one from the tree lot. And they were getting so expensive, we would only buy the least costly which were pretty enough, but didn't hold ornaments that weighed more than a feather. So, an artificial one... no too awful. But I miss the smell.

3. When do you put up the tree?

Sometime during the second week of December. Not sure what we are going to do this year. We now have a devil kitty. I'm thinking of just putting the tree up for a few days with nothing on it so he can get use to it. Then we'll probably only put on ornaments that won't break and that I'm not attached to.

4. When do you take the tree down?

Very soon after New Year's Day.

5. Do you like eggnog?

Yes, but only in small doses. If I buy it, I always end up throwing half of it away. No one else in my family drinks it.

6. Favorite gift received as a child?

Skates when I was 7, bike when I was 8.

Hardest person to buy for?

My husband. He has no hobbies, and he is very hard to find clothes that fit. Plus, his taste in clothes is very conservative, unlike me.

8. Easiest person to buy for?

My daughters, hands down. I could spend millions easily. But, I don't!

9. Do you have a nativity scene?

I have a very small one with little carved figures that my best friend gave me. But, I hardly ever put it up.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards?

For years we sent cards with a funny Christmas letter. But, I've done nothing (NOTHING - how lazy is that?!) for the past 3-4 years.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?

My mother-in-law gave me a fairly ugly sweater. But, the worst part was, it was a large. A large!! I wear a petite small.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie?

A Christmas Story.  I watch it every year and laugh my head off every time.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?

Usually November. I'm doing it all off the internet this year, because everyone is offering free shipping. Keeps me out of the stores and away from impulse shopping.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?

Yes. Some one at work gave me a Godiva Chocolate gift box (I'm not fond of chocolate), so I took it to a party where you play that gift "game" where you steal gifts or pick a new one.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?

Cornbread stuffing, and mashed potatoes with gravy.

16. Lights on the tree?

Yes, and on the eves (sp?) of our house and a lighted garland around the front door. This year we'll put lights along the top of our side fence and the arbor over the gate.

17. Favorite Christmas song?

Wow, this is hard. Maybe, I'll be home for Christmas. Or, The Christmas Song (Chestnuts roasting on an open fire).

8.Travel at Christmas or stay home?

Stay home.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's?

I can now that Ghyste did it for me. :D  Dasher and Dancer, Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen… and Rudolph. I think I could have on my own. BTW, Donner can also be Donder.

20. Angel on the tree top or a star?

Angel, a classic Michelangelo looking one. With clothes.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?

Morning. Up until this year we still had a visit from Santa. But we have a second openning in the evening after dinner with my whole family.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year?

I want it to be cold an wintery and we usually get warm weather, especially on Christmas day. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

23. Favorite ornament theme or coluor?

Old fashion, rustic mostly. Burgandy reds and deep green. Except in the dining room/kitchen. It has gray blue walls, so I try to have more whites, blues and silvers in there.

24. Favorite for Christmas Dinner?

Turkey, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, fresh veggies, homemade bread, pumpkin pie and whipped cream, wine, Bailey's Irish Cream (when everything is over and we're just sitting around).

25. What do you want for Christmas this year?

We're getting a beautiful new front door (deep red) with a screen door that converts to a storm door. It will be installed before Christmas. That's Tom's and my gift to each other. Also, I want a Kitchen Aide standing mixer. I've always suffered with a stupid little hand held mixer and I'm dead tired of it. The Kitchen Aides are on sale now, so that will be my mom's gift to Tom and I.
