the trouble with harry potter dumud June 27 2003, 18:10:15 UTC
Too much product-placement ruined the ENTIRE premise, concept and presentation.

I STILL think botany and sorcery go hand-in-hand over incantation and chant

The wand?
Yeah... a throwback from the days of mortar and pestle

Chants and mediation?
Visualization and contemplative thinking

Gestures?
Yoga, invoking the spirit through circulation of bloodflow

Familiars?
Compassion and rampart with beings of less sentience

Meanwhile…
The communion with the earth’s wonder is often blurred with visions of shortcuts granting the “wannabe-witch some type of shortcut

F U C K harry potter

That entire series is not unlike a day spent inside a septic tank floating down shit creek towards a lava bath

maybe it has some good points, but i was never interested in harry potter. i know that a lot of people are (judging by the 2146536346 entries people on my friends list have posted about the new book), and i can respect that, but i don't see what the big deal is.
but i think i would like to molest the boy who plays harry in the movies.

well, i really think it's good that kids have a thirst to read.. even if it seems to be just the harry potter books, i'm sure that they are reading other things to tide them over. or even if they are just reading the five books over and over and over again, they're still reading.
i tried to read the first one (i don't even know the name of it) right after i finished reading tolkien's lord of the rings trilogy and i think it might have been fantasy overload that turned me away from it. it's a totally different kind of fantasy. but anyway, i would like to read at least the first book (i'll be in a car for a total of 34 hours later this month.. i think i'll have some time) because i'm sure that i will need to know it when i work with kids... of any age.

ps: i haven't seen either of the movies! i want to read the book first. ha!

well, it might spoil everything. but i can give you a hint!
two words: love (hate) interest. and i'm not talking some sort of romeo and juliet or tom hanks/meg ryan movie romance here, either. this is the interesting, real kind of love, where people get fucked up and throw things at each other.
who can't relate to that?
