Tomorrow is Jeremy's wedding, so weird. Even though they have been dating for 6 years, it's still weird that Jeremy is actually getting married. It should be a kick ass event though...free booze all around and a hotel room on the premises. There's nothing better. I bought a little black dress to wear for the occassion and I'm getting my hair ( Read more... )

yup, lisa, you are correct. I did visit that cementary, with my friend Michael who was a HUGE jimmy fan. the visit was definately super. we brought a bottle of champagne with us and cracked it open somewhere between graves and drank to the man that had inspired michael so much. The cementary is totally something out of a Poe story... there are so many famous artists and such buried. I did get to see wilde's grave, and also chopin, who is a personal favorite. We asked a guard what the strangest thing was in the cementary and he led us to a surreal grave sight where the tombstone was an imprint of a body.... kind of spooky and strange and beautiful. I saw lots of cats while i was there too. also a bit spooky. we ended up loosing our selves amongst the amazing graves and ended up missing our train from paris to london, but the whole experience was definately worth it. do they still have police guards circling morrison's grave ( ... )

Oh your visit sounds fantastic!! We didn't have a map either and got totally lost, much to the annoyance of my mom. I love your idea of toasting the dead and especially Jim M. I have to say I was underwhelmed by his gravesite...no headstone anymore. There was a guard standing next to it, which is pretty amazing after all these years. It was so weird how it was tucked back away amongst much larger graves of way less famous people. I wish I would have seen the body imprint one. I was too self conscious about my French to talk to anyone so I wandered around completely lost!

Westminster Abbey is really cool, especially Poet's Corner but I agree that Pere Lachaise wins hands down for atmosphere. If I had any photography talent, it would have been perfect. When we go on our European tour, we'll have to visit again!!

I visited that cemetary as well. Although I didn't see Jim Morrison's grave- but then again, why would I fly thousands of miles to see the tombstone of a loser alcoholic "musician" whose image has now become a common college poster cover for girls who never even heard of the Doors and think he was/is an "American Poet"? He will be forgotten during our generation, thank gods.

You're thinking of Sweet Home Alabama! i never said i didn't like the doors- their music is okay, but the image of their deceased leader has been blown way out of proportion (much like other dead people such as Buddha, Jesus, and Johnny Carson)!

Jim isn't dead either...it's a conspiracy. He's wandering around New Mexico with his Indian friend. Haven't you seen the movie???!
