Meet Attack In Black. The first time I saw them live they opened for the Constantines, a band whom I did not like at the time. I was in a bad mood. I was standing at the back of a crowded venue, couldn't see the stage, wasn't familiar with the bands, and AIB didn't play the ONE song I knew by them.
Not a very good impression.
Fast forward a few years. The Cons and Attack In Black are now playing shows on the same night in separate veues. I'm working until 9pm. My friend really needs somebody to shoot Attack, and I agree. He gets me a photopass and I'm on my way. Then I remember the Cons show. Why does my friend have me shooting this one? So he can go there. Balls! And to add insult to injury, they start to play the Cons over the speakers JUST before Attack comes on stage.
One thing I forgot about Attack in Black, they don' DO much once up there. They sounded incredible, but they were lacking enthusiasm which made kneeling in beer that much less forgivable when I went to get a shot. Drunk crowd didn't help, either. Its been a while since I've even thought about these guys and seeing them again made me realize how much I actually DO like them. They've got a new record out so I've gotta go find that and give it a listen.
