So, I enjoy genderfuck, but my secret guilty pleasure are AUs where John is and always has been a girl. (The second half of my secret guilty pleasure would be if this also led to femmslash, but McKay/Sheppard het makes me spectacularly happy too. Actually, pretty much any pairing that usually makes me think, "EEE! Chocolate and peanut butter!" would make me squee with girl!John involved.) Since three authors I enjoy in the last week or so have posted girl!John AUs out of the blue, I thought I'd, you know, mention it.
All of these are McKay/Sheppard. In two of them Rodney's an ex-husband, in one of them Rodney's an ex-husband that makes you sort of want to cry before you punch him in the face, mostly because it's sadly plausible--but I think it will work out! really!--and all of them involve babies.
Half the Perfect World by
gaiaanarchyAuthor's summary: John asks an ancient device to go home and ends up over the rainbow instead (assuming over the rainbow resembles suburbia, off course). Girl!John/Rodney.
Story of a Girl by
seperisMy summary: A quick mash up of several seasons of SGA in a universe where John Sheppard didn't shoot Sumner, Joan Sheppard did.
Lustrous by
rageprufrockAuthor's summary: Tin is a lustrous shade of gray.
(In case that summary is too opaque: my favorite part of this is Jane Sheppard, and that the story is from her point of view, and that we aren't playing the spectator through our Rodney's eyes. This one was also the last straw that provoked the little picture up there)
Prufrock also has an unfinished wip (
Transitive Property) in which--well--I shall not tell you. But obviously it is in this post for a reason.
