Ummmm I was pretty much in love with Levar Burton from a very young age. I can still sing the entire Reading Rainbow *original* theme song, the one with the technicolor butterfly and the beach scene. TV isn't supposed to teach kids how to read. TV isn't a teacher. Sorry. But it can reinforce bigger concepts, like, uh, the love of literature. What could be more beneficial than a tv show hosted by a guy who gets excited by books and shows stories that come alive? Nothing. Except Wishbone. Wishbone was the pinnacle of literary broadcasting. Have you seen the smut that PBS offers now? "Read between the Lions"? Bleh. It's awful. No plot. No characters. Nothing interesting for any kid over the age of 3.

I still love PBS, but from 1993. I like to pretend that Wishbone, Reading Rainbow, and Ghostwriter still exist.
