10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Well, see #7...
11. What was the best thing you bought?
A plane ticket to Paris!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Nate Stambaugh. He has seen me through the worst of the worst this year and has lived to tell about it; he has been my advisor, ear and friend when I needed it with no personal stake in doing so. And he does this for so many people around him that I am in awe of his generosity of friendship. ---OH, and a completely unrelated laud: THE RED SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Kings Crossing" by Elliott Smith
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? a little happier, actually. odd, that.
ii. thinner or fatter? same.
iii. richer or poorer? probably a little richer, but poorer because I am going to need much more than I have.

Editing and refining my novel.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Becoming emotional about situations I cannot control.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
Family traditions as usual, and then an all-nighter with Mark, Rebecca, Sam, Matt and Lindsey... very fun.
22. Did you fall in love in 2004?
Erm, in a sense - I don't know. I don't call it that... it's such a spectrum, first of all. And so if something just moves a little further on the spectrum than it had been before, can you really call it "falling" like it's something completely new? And how do I know what "love" is anyways? And personally, I think that my experience with love in that sense has been too much of a lean toward the negative anyhow.
23. How many one-night stands?
Well, no one night stands in the extreme sense. I guess if you count a make-out session, then one.

ONLY Red Sox, my friend.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I am not saying this to be cliche, but I really don't hate people. I get really upset at them and start crying and stuff, but I don't really hate them. See, I have this belief that hate has to be free of emotions to be real... and I never seem to be free of emotions, dammit.
26. What was the best book you read?
The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Kundera
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

I wish I could have really solved my spiritual dilemmas and finally have become morally consistent.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Clothingwise, I haven't the damnedist - but in general, I would say: sarongs.
34. What kept you sane?
Honesty, although I think at times it also facilitated the insanity.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hehe, "fancy." Erm, anyhow, I would say Hugh Jackman. No, scratch that. THEO Epstein.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Well, one answer to this is obvious. But I was also really concerned with the No on One campaign tax cap issue.
37. Who did you miss?
My mother - but what else is new.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
I can't just say one - I forgot what a large span a year was. Two have LJs and I hope they know who they are.

When the mind and the impulse come into conflict, the latter always wins - in my case, at least.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Anyone with my screen name knows these two well: "Confusion has its cost"--CSNY and "These hours of confusion / they will soon expire / like everything does"--Ben Folds
All right - now I have finished that, and I've looked at
my entry from last year when I took the very same quiz... wow, am I predictable or what? Maybe I just don't change - that would be depressing but entirely possible.
