Gotcha, gotcha,and largely agreed.

Specter may be temperamentally more suited, BUT.... he wouldn't get reelected. And I think he's pretty worthwhile. So I'm still excited.

Your analysis suffers a fatal flaw, that it depends on a vacuum and a somewhat naive view of certain issues to work. Think back to the 1960s, it was the Democrat party that stood in defiance of civil rights for black Americans, but that group now votes in near-lockstep with the Democrat party. Parties change to accommodate issues of the day, and take positions that they hope offer a viable choice to voters ( ... )

Well, last things first: I didn't make the right-wing extremist comment with an actual candidate in mind. I was referring more to the hypothetical possibility, because I don't know any of the PA-specific politics. Sorry if you confused me for attacking a particular politician ( ... )

Well, at this point, the fiscal discussion is going to dwarf all other issues, since the current rate of spending is so unsustainable. You'll probably get your wish on that point.
