Found this photo essay link in the Allspark General Discussion forum: Detroit's Beautiful, Horrible Decline.

Call me naive, but I'm pretty weirded out that the photos were taken in America. Others have compared these sights to Chernobyl and the former Soviet Union in general...

It's almost post-apocalyptic, isn't it? The photo of the old theatre was striking.

yeah, all of them were kinda freaky. why they don't tear some of those places down is beyond me, though each place does have its own interesting story...

I was both appalled and weirdly amused by the caption for the photo of the decaying dentist's office:

One of the city's most prominent skyscrapers, this 35-story tower once housed the offices of many doctors, lawyers and dentists. It has been virtually empty since the 1980s. Developers hope to convert the building to residential units by 2010.

...Man, is THAT a horror movie in the making.
