The Sweater-That-Would-Not-Be-Finished is, finally, completed. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, despite all the learning detours (mistakes and do-overs!). Melissa will undoubtedly swim in it, being very slender, but it's a jacket style cardigan so that's okay.
Clicky this to see I worked on it from mid-October to mid-January but the last month was spent on the do-overs. The pattern had a GLARING omission in that no direction whatsoever was given about how many neck stitches to reserve for the neckline, besides those implied by the v-neck shaping in the front. So on the first try, the neck was rather too small; but I found another pattern online from which I could deduce what to do.
The yarn is that 70% merino/30% Australian opossum fur mix which I first ran into on the New Zealand trip--really soft and warm. Um, er, not cheap, but the magical thing about a stash of yarn is that after six months (or however long it takes you to forget the price), the yarn becomes FREE:-D!
P.S. The caption on the icon reads: "LOL Cats are carefully packaged to help preserve lolness," or sumpn like that. When I load my new version of PS Effects maybe I'll tinker with it.
