Smallville Season 7, Episode 14: Traveler

I really liked Clark's final scene with Lionel -- mainly because I liked what Clark said about the Luthors, and how it acknowledged a couple of truths about Lionel ever since knowing Clark's secret. It shows that knowing Clark's secret ultimately didn't make a difference in saving Lionel. Yes, Lionel, out of some warped since of protecting Clark, ( Read more... )

thanks for the review. Like you I didn't mind that Clark called both Luthors lost causes because of pretty much the same reasons you do.....Little Alexander may be in inside fighting but until Lex lets him influence his desisions then no Clark should keep turning a blind eye to everything Lex does.

From the way people are carrying on they want Clark to remain in that place of always looking out for ALexander, while all the time forgetting, that Lex had pete tortured, and blackmailed him into helping Lex by threatening Chloe.

Also? We don't know what Lex was planning to do to his cousin- kara makes a flippent remark about brain dissection, but it could have been as bad as that, bearing in mind that Lex did have ulterior motives for helping Kara.

As for the rest of the episode while I'll have to write up my thoughts in my own review since they're too long and numerous to post here

Precisely. I don't want him to forget what Lex has done, either.

Looking forward to it. :)

Lionel has always been good at coming up with plausible lies on the fly when he is confronted about something, and I was gratified that Clark wasn't buying it this time. I thought Clark showed tremendous maturity in that scene, and I loved it. And I so agree that Lex and Lionel seem to be changing places. I remember how Lionel used to toy with Lex in the earlier seasons, and seemed so completely untouchable. Now it's Lex who is the effective one. And as you say, JG was perfect ( ... )

//Great review!//

Thanks! :D

//Not only that, but Lionel's done some of this stuff since learning Clark's secret. //

Right, and I think this just goes to show that Lionel will never change. Even when he thinks he's doing something for the good side, it is still ethically questionable behavior.

Patricia's return reinforced the idea that Lionel couldn't run away from or change his past.
I hadn't thought of that. Excellent point.

Actions do speak louder and words, so when she says things like this, the words are just icing on the cake.
Her actions were loud and clear, but sometimes the saying helps make things feel 'real'. Like it could be imagined without hearing the words? Or maybe Jor-El just responds to audio. *shrugs*

I'm very glad you liked this episode, Pep!

Oh, I definitely liked hearing the words. And I did think it was odd that there was no audio for Jor-el.

I am, too. :)
