Why I'm so disappointed of Mexico sometimes...

Early this morning (around 5 AM) some burglars sneaked and robbed a Jewelry store in Mexico City (they robbed about $200,000 US in jewelry). The alarm went off, the manager of the jewelry store called the cops

That's sad... to be honest, we're probably just as bad here in America, if not worse, depending on where you go. It's not just Mexico, but rather most of the western world that's really suffering a downturn in morality. It's pretty upsetting >

Cops can be corrupt anywhere in the world.
There was something even down in Australia where the cops for one state were so corrupt that they wondered which ones could they keep, because it looks like they're all corrupt.

Locally, we've had a major incident with a cop beating up a teen girl because she flipped a shoe off at him and hit him in the shin. Don't get me wrong, she wasn't necessarily an innocent angel, but she was already in custody, and the cop just slammed her into a wall and more. Another cop standing nearby did nothing.

We also had an incident where a guy who ran from the cops got pulled over after a car chase. Dude was prostrate on the ground, hands up. Cop orders him to stand up, and as the guy stands up the cop opens fire. As much of an asshole the guy was, he didn't deserve to be shot like that. He did survive...

Anyway, I guess the question is more along the lines of what percentage of cops are crooks. Is it better here? I'd like to think so, but I can't be sure of it.
