Summary: Hoya tries to think of a new pairing name for them.
It’s a sunny day outside, and the members are busy running across the wooden tiles of Infinite’s dorm and hurriedly putting on their shoes. The giant fireball in the sky is luckily not too hot to play outside, but hot enough to make getting shaved ice and watermelon shakes a reasonable excuse to go out. Everyone is now crowding towards the door, grabbing their wallets and cellphones as they go, when Dongwoo notices only six members laughing in the hallway.
Hoya is currently on his bed, reading glasses on the bridge of his nose, crumpled paper laid out in front of him. Pencil marks that are scratched quickly against the surface of the sheet are erased just as rapidly as they are made. Pretty soon, Hoya’s bed is filled with pink debris, and his fingers, with black smudges, both ends of his pencil severely reduced. He’s grumbling to himself, staring at the very messy but ironically empty paper, because his mind just cannot think.
A fan’s comment leaves a nagging thought in his head, about how the YaDong pairing name, though creative, is laughable. Hoya frowns to himself as he thinks how his relationship with Dongwoo is somehow described as “porn” (because he thinks that love for only that reason is shallow, and Hoya’s love for his hyung is way deeper than just physical attraction). He’s spent the past hour trying to think of other pairing names for him and his hyung, but to no avail.
Why is this so hard?! Hoya screams as he exasperatedly puts his head in his hands. He doesn’t realize the door to his room opening and closing quietly until a deep voice greets him with, what’s hard?
Hoya almost jumps up in surprise. H-hyung, what are you doing here? You’re supposed to be with the others, Hoya stutters, glasses almost slipping off his nose. Dongwoo watches the younger with a smile on his lips and notices the paper stained with grey lead hues. Hoya, what have you been doing?
The dance machine puts his head down as he desperately tries to explain the situation he’s in. Hyung, I’ve been trying to think of new pairing names for us. I mean, YaDong was fun at first, but then it didn’t seem to symbolize what we were really about. And right now, I can’t think of anything new for us, and is this fate’s way of telling me we don’t belong together, because nothing sounds right, and- Hoya rambles on and on until Dongwoo places a finger on his lips to shush the younger boy. Hoya looks at Dongwoo with fearful and tearful honey-brown eyes.
You talk too much, Dongwoo starts off, thoroughly amused (though Hoya sees no reason for him to be, not when he was just ranting a while ago). Pairing names don’t matter to me. Because, you know what? You are Lee Howon, and I am Jang Dongwoo. And we’re us. To me, that’s perfect enough. Dongwoo laughs softly and brushes Hoya’s bangs out of his face before caressing his cheek. Hoya is blushing furiously, unable to say anything. Dongwoo doesn’t need any of his words though; the erratic beating of Hoya’s heart is enough to assure him that the other agrees with his statements.
It’s a sunny day outside, and Dongwoo and Hoya might as well have been filming another episode of “Rappers Got Married” from the looks of their intertwined fingers. The pencil and paper lay on Hoya’s bed, forgotten. All Hoya needs anyway is his heart.
A/N: Ah, I didn't focus on this fanfic too much~ Originally intended to be a drabble, but it got longer than planned. Inspired by my random thoughts once again. My first YaDong fanfic!
Comments are very much loved~ ^^
