Haha, get a teaching degree. You have to be up early as shit, but you get off work early and have about 2 to 3 hours of work when you come home. BUT, you get a boat load of holidays off, your summer off (if you choose) and you get paid about as much as you would with any other "normal" office job without having to bore yourself at a desk for 8 hours a day. PLUS, you can share your excitement for knowledge with your students.

I think you would be a good teacher.

I'd second that one.

How about an MFA?-- you'll get credentials to teach in college, earn money through grants, etc.

Wow, I didn't realize teachers had that much work to do when they came home. That sounds like a lot!

I just finished my Substitute Teacher training course here in Honolulu and I'm thinking about getting my teaching certificate. I'd like to teach Algebra or some middle level math course. Maybe math teachers wouldn't have so much work at home? I'm also applying to be an emergency hire teacher for the fall. Honolulu county will hire people without a certificate if they are desperate enough but those folks will probably have to teach in a really bad school.

It is interesting to hear about your life and your decision making process. If life weren't interesting, why would anyone bother to read a biography?

If you enjoy the process of learning, then going back to school for whatever degree will be fun. Plus, sometimes having a bachelors degree opens door that otherwise would be closed. But many times I've made less than people with high school degrees especially working with computers.

I picture you as an English teacher, or maybe a philosophy teacher because you love the rational argument and you hate to see people use poor thinking processes.
