List of dorky things that drive me crazy about UVM:

1.) No 11x16 paper in the photocopiers, anywhere. Copying an article out of a textbook or journal is therefore ridiculously difficult and takes twice as long as it should.

2.) The linux machines in the library do not allow access to the command line. Tell me, WHAT IS THE POINT?

Clearly, it is to keep people who know too much, like you, from hacking the system. ;)

I'm sure the admins are MS guys who know less about Linux than you and thus are not confident of their security configurations. Maybe you should offer to help them?

Hahaha. Maybe. Unless you're an allowed sudoer, though, there shouldn't be much an ordinary user can DO from the command line! All those security configurations come preset.

I DID send them an e-mail asking whether they'd change their minds. No word yet.

Congrats on becoming a grandfather!

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to getting up there next week.
