I remember the scene vividly. As I recall, Pamela had a full fledged breakdown and mistook Mason for CC leading to the totally not mother and son kiss. Most of that dinner party is posted on youtube starting here They are pretty poor quality, but they do take us back to a really great episode. There are three parts and you can find them scrolling down the page. Sadly none of the clips go further than Sophia's "testimony" and don't include the kiss.

I loved that show. And also Gordon Thomson. I was thrilled when GT later went on to play AJ Deschanel on my other all-time favorite soap, "Sunset Beach."
