Oh man, it was absolutely fantastic! I'm also just a little bit sad that it's over, but as per usual, I adored it. 5 out of 5, many more re-reads coming.
Will you be reviewing your old posts...

Once the coda comes out in fall? (Since we still don't really know the details of Sookie's HEA.) "The Waitress' Best Supe Friend" in particular is TOTALLY ACCURATE as to how Eric would handle Sam as a suitor, but the last book takes away the reasons for why Sookie can't contemplate Sam as one.

Oh no - I couldn't face up to it this time. Wordpress tells me that I have 160 posts. That sounds like a lot of work. :D
I agree - Eric handled Sam as a suitor exactly how I said he would (belying the whole OMG ERIC IS OOC) but it was Sookie who changed her mind, rather than Sam doing anything different. Although I do think that Sam did actually do something different - he realised that time was slipping away from him, and he couldn't afford to sit back and wait. So he came out and said something.

Yay!
I absolutely agree. It was tied up nicely, and I think it was clear enough why it went the way it did.
I don't see that as quite equal - after all, he would know just how lonely that Sookie would be. Eric wouldn't be forced to move away from his family and friends if they ran - because he has Pam, and she could come too. But I didn't hate Eric for it, I just thought that he stayed true to form by not being able to let Sookie go.
Lol - I know! I'm trying not to type out whole posts myself.
I agree - that was what the spoilers gave me. Even though they were biased, I felt like I had actually been getting it. Where the fangirl is confused, it made sense to me.

Ah, your comments makes me realize that Eric ended up leaving his self-made family, but Sookie got to keep hers. Since he has so much more time, potentially, to get his back, I don't feel too badly about that. RachelW

He did. But I'm not so sure that was what Eric valued. I mean, he hasn't seen Karin in 250 years. I don't think he wanted to surround himself with people who want to spend time with him, he wants a series of blonde women who can't leave.
I just finished reading and I have to say I enjoyed it immensely, really satisfying and more than a bit harrowing at times. Especially that last bit w/Claude, Newlin & Glassport in the van (shades of Neave & Lochlan).
Characters on my shit list grew w/this book, Amelia is really a shitty friend and I hope Sookie severs that relationship completely cus girlfriend cannot keep her trap shut like Quinn said. It's a good thing Claude is dead because his betrayal of Hunter for revenge was the last straw, I'm sure that while Sookie said she was prepared to die if tortured again the thought of poor Hunter being manipulated by Newlin and/or Glassport would be motivation enough to fight back and escape.
I would love to read about the adventures of Pam the Sheriff and what she has in store for "just call me Cope" what an asswipe.
I might just lurk on Amazon to laugh at the self-righteous indignation of the fangirls over the true ending of SVM;D
Can't wait to read all of your musings about the book;D <3
I was a little worried at the end there, I couldn't deal with the thought that it would happen to Sookie again. I think Sam has too much faith in Sookie's ability to make it through again.
Lol - Sookie said she'd never tell Amelia anything again more important than a recipe or the weather (from memory). She's still more of the same, really, no matter how much she thinks she's changed. But on the other hand, Tara really came out swinging in Sookie's favour.
I kinda dread to think what the hell Pam is going to do with Cope. I have too good of an imagination. But I find it striking that everyone is like "ERIC IS A RAPE SLAVE" and Cope is like nothing. There's no lament for Copley going on, and he's murdered 99% less people than fucking Eric has.
Lol - or read fanfiction. Where you can go on about how you're a better author than CH, yet on release day of a CH book, ain't no one reviewing you instead...even though you're free.
That's me right above you, didn't notice I was not logged in. Dumb iPod Touch:D
Since I have you in my clutches I just wanted to add that there were lots of funny lines in the book and a nod to TB (when Sookie picks up Amnesia Eric) when Delphine the cattle rancher/touch psychic was channeling Arlene's last moments, "Why they not killing Snookie?" "Sookie" I cracked up. Claude's homosexual spell of sorts on Newlin and Glassport was darkly humorous as well.
I got my kicks this morning reading the butthurt reviews on Amazon, something may be wrong w/me to extract so much glee from disappointed fangirls. Oh well;D
Omg. I’ve been rather hovering just on the edge of the fandom for the last several months…keeping up with previous fics, but not getting into any new ones, and studiously avoiding any potential for freak-out discussions of “IF SHE DOESN’T END UP WITH ERIC I WILL DIE!!!” But I had to come over and see what you thought of DEA, since you and your other livejournal followers are sane people, and I really enjoy sane people

I've died down with the new fics - and now I probably won't read anything but what I'm already reading. Although I confess that some of my favourite authors could probably lure me. You did well to avoid the whole suicide fangirl though. They've been kamikazeing all over the place with their spoilers. :D

Oh! You know what I erroneously expected to be more of a thing…when the devil (*a* devil!) is talking to Copley about the cluviel dor…he comments that he’d managed to enter the body of someone standing behind Sookie, but she used the cluviel dor before he could take it (Loc 267 on Kindle.) Then Sam said he remembered Eric standing behind Sookie looking like he hated them (Loc 864 on Kindle). Obviously we already know that Eric was mad that Sookie used the cluviel dor on Sam, so I realize it’s not the reason for that, but the way it was mentioned these two times made me think the possession was going to become a plot point of its own. It didn’t, and it doesn’t matter that it didn’t, but it did throw me off a bit, expecting it to come up again and then not
( ... )
Lol - I figured when I read the prologue online that it wouldn't be a thing. After all, anything that Eric did wouldn't be Eric. But I really enjoyed the ("a") devil and the discussion of souls
