Well, my mom's doctor lost his license to prescribe narcotics. For the last 10 years or so my mom has been on numerous pain medications. The last 4 or 5 years, she's been on a high dose of morphine. 700 patients are in the same boat as my mom, only 200 patients have gotten to see a doctor. Ugh, I've experienced that myself - was prescribed strong pain meds for 13 years due to undiagnosed condition - and when I went to the hospital due to an unrelated matter, the nurses actually told my mother they thought I was a drug addict.

Then they admitted me and refused my pain meds.

Two hours later, they were giving me them back after I'd collapsed due to the pain. They also FINALLY found out what was wrong with me.

Didn't get an apology from that idiot nurse though.
