To Take Away
You ask of things that I do not have,
You question my word, belittle my honesty,
- for one to lie, is for one to sin.
I may not be Mother Theresa or the Virgin Mother,
- but I try not to lie,
For all my sins, I may commit,
- I want my sins to be honest, as honest as a sin may be.
I do not want this fear,
Fear of watching the clock,
- for I do not have, of which you seek.
I try, try, and try again,
And yet still, you press hard and you persist.
Leave my home,
Leave my mind,
Leave my time alone and allow me to use it,
- however I wish to use it.
Time is a precious commodity,
- and at times, I fear I have so little left to give.
And yet, time and time again,
You take whatever little that I do have left.
