Still, I wonder if neither number ultimately matters because exact numerics aren't the issue but the underlying intent, that relating to a rise in the information/technology age whereby we are all, in fact, reduced to numbers in a godless society.

How is this news? Many annotated bibles already have footnotes that say "or 616."

I s'pose it's b/c this is very old ms. evidence in support of 616 vs. 666? I dunno... I haven't read revelations or its footnotes since at least eleventh grade...
