I just got back from seeing Michael Penn at World Cafe Live. As expected, he was amazing - as a musician, as a singer, as a performer. And the crowd was very enthusiastic, even giving MP a (well deserved) standing ovation after the faux-encore ( Read more... )

He's coming down yonder to North Carolina next week.

I'm hoping to go, but I make no promises. The thing is, I never bought MP4 and I'm only moderately familiar w/ March and Free For All. He practically starts and stops for me with Resigned.

I'd have to say I'd get much the same reaction as you to "Me Around".

It's like a lighter version of Radiohead's Creep or Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart...or am I wrong on that?

I've never seen him and this is my first opportunity both in, and likely for, quite some time.

I have already dl'd the free tracks from amazon though.

Yes! He closed with it. He seemed to be experiencing some frustration with people's inability to remember the title correctly. So he sang the first chorus "What if I were Romeo in black jeans? (That's not the title) What if I was Heathcliff, it's no myth (THAT's it) Maybe she's just looking for someone to dance with (and that's not the title either)..."
