I'm disappointed. Early reports of Archbishop Dolan (New York) gave me the impression he was a rather good egg. And with Jack the Rat on the throne, the Catholic church needs as many good eggs as it can get

"If you believe in a supernatural being, doesn't this mean you are already looking beyond nature? If you believe in a supernatural element to your own essence, doesn't this mean you are capable of being more than the sum of your genetic code and biological urges?"
My feeling entirely. Or "Nothing is impossible with God" perhaps. I find it entirely impossible to understand any Christian (or indeed any religious) argument which cliams something is unnatural, because, well I don't understand a set of "natural" laws as being how God works.
Similarly I identify any concept anyone has of something beyond the material, the physical, beyond nature as being the spiritual, as being a concept of God. If I didn't believe in God I couldn't believe in Love, in Art, in Beauty, or in humanity in any sense beyond the animal.
