Yep, the polls are closed and the tallies are in.  I'm a bread stick.  A deep-fried, venerable one at that.

Over on my Chinese language blog I posted an entry talking about how the behavior of all my friends back in China have denigrated, and was wondering why his took place if everyone was so much more legit when I was back there.  My conclusions ( Read more... )

I just googled a bit in the interests of not letting this one slip past, and found some user-generated definitions. Some at Yahoo

I've talked to a few people and read the links you've sent me...I'm thinking for translation purposes something like a swindler or a Machiavellian sweet talker...though those aren't really that eloquent and each time I proposed those translations the response was usually ”差一点点“...

Are you still going to Mianyang? Is there any earthquake damage in the area where you are going? We're leaving Taiwan next week.

Hey--
Good to hear from you. Yeah, I'm still going back over there around mid-August. I think something like 3000 people died in Mianyang, though I wasn't clear if it was Mianyang city or Mianyang county. My friend and I are talking about ways to incorporate some part of the reconstruction effort into our business plan, but haven't reached any conclusions yet. There are now 600 refugees living at the school where I will be teaching for the first year, though I don't know if they will still be there when I get over there. I hope you have a safe trip!
