What I'm knitting

All the time friends ask me how many things I'm knitting. It's a logical question, since I carry around a huge bag usually full of at least two projects. My usual answer is "a lot" but here's the answer in more detail.

  • Scarf. Stripey, for a friend. Very, very pretty.
  • Scarf. For Jerry. Gray. I may never finish this, I don't like how the yarn ( Read more... )

I know I still haven't sent you yarn - I feel terrible. I'm really not usually such a flake! I've been trying to get my hands on some alpaca yarn from a local farm, but they don't have much and most of it gets snapped up as soon as it's available. I'm going to a craft store on Thursday so I'll see what I can find. :) (Unless you wouldn't mind redirecting me to those sites you first posted? I lost the links. ::headdesk::)

Don't worry at all! If you get to it now or in 8 months, it's all good. I know you have plenty to keep you busy, and unlike me you don't have a yarn store in walking distance.

If you can get the local alpaca, that'd be great. I'm sure you'd love it. It's light and warm and very nice. If you want to keep trying for that, excellent. If not, you might try this: http://www.knitpicks.com/Andean+Silk+Yarn_YD5420126.html. Very affordable, nice solid colors and a nice blend of fibers. Or if you want to totally overwhelm yourself, type in alpaca yarn in Etsy and have a great time. (If you do that, search for alpaca worsted, or alpaca bulky. If you get alpaca laceweight you won't have very warm arms;-)

I don't know how to do it, but am going to learn very soon. Want to come take a class with me? You'd have to find someone to watch Ben, though.

Wednesday next week at 10. It's just a private lesson with the woman at the local yarn shop. I believe we could just split the cost, which is $30. (I think she charges the same whether it's one or two people.) I'd just call you about it, but I left my phone at work.
