Well, I recently forced a dear friend of mine to read Master and Commander, and, to my astonishment, she really enjoyed it, especially our boys. And to my great amusement, she wrote me a poem about Jack and Stephen. My first thought was that you all might enjoy it as much as I did, it really is adorable, and very funny. And it has slashy overtones, which is always a plus.
And so, with her permission, I give you
Ode to Jack and Stephen
A man of great naval position
And a lovably twisted physician
Were sent to embark on a mission
To raise prodigous hell for the French
There was the esteemed captain Jack
Whose waist spoke of his love to snack
And whose fury was hard to hold back
He loved battle and longed for a wench.
There was the doctor Maturin
Who watched mantises glow from within
And whose stockings did cause Jack's chagrin
When they dined with the whore Molly Harte
So together they conquered the seas
And were shocked, though not wholly displeased
When by love they were brought to their knees
Therefore vowing to never be part.
I encourage you all to let her know what you think of her poetry by commenting on her lj,
