Oh this is a lovely farewell. I've always wondered which of them would go first and realised that no matter which, the other would be quite heartbroken. And how like Stephen to not want to cause harm, without realising that in not telling, he's doing more harm . . . but wonderful to see them all united again.

Stephen has too many ingrained habits from his former career and his lifetime of loss has its effect in that he will do anything to avoid the pain of leaving those he loves. This habit of secrecy is hard to break for him and he requires a good talking to to realise how it would affect others.
