So not much has been going on. Grease started last week. So far we've choreographed two numbers, learned all the music, and blocked the entire first act. We're moving pretty damn quick compared to previous years. I was given understudy to Roger, even though I should have the part. Rich, who actually is Roger, always has wrestling and stuff during rehearsals. He's only been to three out of eight rehearsals; I've played the role every single night, since he's only been to choreography rehearsals. He doesn't know any of his lines or his songs, and I know them all. But I'm still only the understudy. Go figure.
It doesn't matter much though. I auditioned for Seussical at Kelsey Theatre this past weekend and got an actual role, one bigger than I got in our freaking high school show. I'll be playing a Wickersham Brother (one of three) and depending on which one they decide to use me as, I could even have my own song. Michaela's in it as well as Gertrude McFuzz, the lead female. If anyone's interested, the show's pretty cute (a bunch of Dr. Seuss stories thrown together to tell one complete story) and we're performing it April 1-10 at Kelsey.
I'll probably have to quit work now. I gave my two weeks notice a while ago, but my manager literally begged me to stay. So I said I'd work Saturdays and Sundays during the day only, but she's not even sticking to that. Now that I'm doing two shows, plus with midterms coming up, I doubt I'll have the time or energy to work. I'm not broken up about it though... I really hate The Cheese.
And just because I finally wrote something after being so dry for so long, here's a pretty bad poem with a good closing:
Ephemeral
Throw your opinions like
rocks in riots.
{I used to know you well}
Traveling with arms
crossed and
heart shut up.
Burned by your own
internal
flame.
{a door slammed in my face}
I will always be a
better
person.
I remember when only dust
lived under the rug.
