I would tell my mom, "You should know, you brought me into this world to suffer."

can't say that...as it is, she blames herself for not having spent enough time with me when i was younger, and hence i'm not the nice gentle caring loving person she would like me to be....

i'd say: only if i get to live it the way i want to. not the way YOU want to.

the truth? tough love.

its so much easier in the short term to sugar coat everything to everyone and take it all on yourself. i'm yet to find out the long term repercussions of that though...

Ask her back. "Are you happy with yours?"

worst question to ask!

my mom's deeply unhappy with her life. she feels very empty and lonely. hearing her answer will only put more emotional/psychological pressure on me to return to singapore asap. as it is, i am getting accused of abandoning her in singapore. (which is true to some extent, i guess)

it's a lose-lose situation...

It's a trick question. The only correct answer is "YES" because any other answer will land you up with a ton of nagging and further un-answerable questions. It would help if you were actually happy with your life though.

well, i am on balance, happy with my life. i'm not jumping up and down in joy, but i'm not unhappy either. but if i said that to her, she'd take it that i'm unhappy.
