“Well, this is boring,” Kangin muttered to himself. He was sitting by himself in the large classroom, folding his arms and glaring at his desk.
It was the first day at a new school. Literally, it was a new school. Kangin was one of the unlucky majority chosen from his previous school and another school to be the first of the students to go there. They were never given a choice, annoying Kangin to no end since most of his friends got to stay behind.
He only new one guy in his homeroom, Shindong. But even Shindong managed to make new friends. Kangin felt like an outsider. Amidst all the talking and laughing in the room, he was uncomfortably alone. Sighing, he decided to just surrender to his miserable fate.
The door opened then and a wind blew in, causing Kangin to look up because it was ridiculous to feel wind in a building. What he saw in the doorway, Kangin couldn’t look away from. The boy that entered looked like he was an angel just come down from heaven. Kangin didn’t care that he was gawking. He did whatever he damn well pleased and nobody was gonna ask questions unless they wanted their ass whooped.
The angel, uh, guy entered the room, looking slightly lost and uncomfortable. He was obviously from the other school because his uniform was different from Kangin’s. Some of the boys wolf-whistled at him as he walked in. He blushed and looked away from them. Finding an empty seat next to Kangin, he walked up to it. He looked at Kangin questioningly, as if asking permission to sit down. Kangin just shrugged, words constrained in his throat at the sight of the angel.
Then the teacher came in and took their attendance. Kangin found out that the angel’s name was Leeteuk.
Since it was still the first day of school, most of the teachers decided to give the students a chance to make friends before pummelling their brains with knowledge that no one cared to know about.
Kangin’s last subject of the day was History. Stupid subject. Who wanted to learn about dead people anyway? Kangin glared at the table, a habit he seemed to have formed and which he did during every class. Kangin was a little early but it was better than hanging around outside like an idiot.
For the first time ever, Kangin experienced déjà vu as the door opened, letting in a wind. Kangin looked up to see Leeteuk, the angel from his homeroom. Leeteuk’s face lit up at the sight of him and went to sit next to Kangin.
“I hope you don’t mind me sitting here,” Leeteuk said conversationally. “You seem to be the only one who hasn’t whistled when I walk by or tried to flirt with me.”
“Guys have been flirting with you?” Kangin asked, turning to look at him.
Leeteuk nodded, blushing. He stared at his hands in embarrassment. “Damn,” Kangin muttered under his breath. Looks like he wasn’t the only one who thought Leeteuk was an angel.
“What?” Leeteuk asked, looking up.
Before Kangin could answer, the teacher came in then and decided it would be fun to torture his students by making them learn something.
Over the weeks, Kangin and Leeteuk formed a sort of friendship where Kangin completely ignored Leeteuk for the whole day, even during homeroom and only realized he existed during History class if only because Leeteuk poked Kangin regularly, making sure he didn’t fall asleep in class which Kangin found highly annoying but allowed because it was the only skin contact he’d be able to make with Leeteuk the angel.
Kangin had been a star soccer player in his previous school. He managed to persuade the school to form a soccer team. Eventually, they even began to play against other schools, earning the school some recognition when Kangin led his team to win more than a few games.
Soon enough, Kangin’s team was going up against his old school. Kangin became nervous and ended up working the players harder than usual, if that was possible. When practice was over, Kangin took his time showering.
As he left the gym, he saw Leeteuk the angel leaning against the wall by himself. Kangin was surprised because Leeteuk was usually hanging around with Heechul, another pretty boy in the school.
Leeteuk saw him then and waved, his face lighting up and forming his signature dimples. Kangin walked slowly over to him and upon reaching him, asked, “What are you doing here?”
“Waiting for you,” Leeteuk answered matter-of-factly.
“Why?”
“I was watching your practice. You seem to be working the guys a little too hard, don’t you think?” Leeteuk asked.
Kangin just grunted in reply and began to walk away from the school. Leeteuk followed him, obviously not intending to leave him alone. Kangin sighed and added, “We have a big game coming up. We need to shape up.”
“You should relax,” Leeteuk told him. Kangin thought he almost sounded like he was nagging.
Kangin laughed and said, “What do you suggest I do?”
Later that day...
“FREEFALLING?!! That’s your idea of relaxing??” Kangin exclaimed in disbelief as Leeteuk dragged him onto a waiting plane.
“Come on, Kangin,” Leeteuk said, panting. He was finding out the hard way just why Kangin was the athletic one and he wasn’t. “You’ll enjoy this!”
Kangin had never done anything crazy like jump willingly out of a plane before. Apparently, Leeteuk did it on a regular basis. Kangin still couldn’t believe he let a guy he barely knew talk him into doing something like this. But he couldn’t back out because the plane was already in the air by now.
Kangin grumbled to himself, glaring at Leeteuk intensely. The boy didn’t notice, chattering happily about his first time freefalling. At the age of 11!
When they were at what Leeteuk called the proper height, which was too high in Kangin’s opinion, Leeteuk smiled his dimpled smile and told Kangin to get ready. The door opened and a blast of wind blew in, except this time, there was no angel about to come in. This time, there was nothing but air and it was enough to make Kangin gulp.
“Come on, Kangin!” Leeteuk shouted over all the noise. He grabbed Kangin’s hand and stood right at the door.
“Are you sure about th- AAAAHHHHH!!!!!” Kangin’s question was cut off by his scream as Leeteuk jumped out of the plane, pulling Kangin out with him.
As they fell, they spread themselves out, still holding hands. Leeteuk grinned at Kangin and shouted, “I told you this was relaxing!”
“I’m gonna kill you for this, Leeteuk!” Kangin shouted back.
As Kangin looked at Leeteuk looking all happy in the sky, Kangin couldn’t help but grin. Leeteuk really was an angel from the sky.
