i mean sure a lot of people cover songs, some make them better + make them get more airtime and sometimes if the people only listen to the mtv junk they odnt konw the originals...

Yeah there are like 13513515385857.246 covers of it. The Tears for Fears version is, of course, the original, but I listen to Gary Jules more cuz that's the one in Donnie Darko and yeah... who was arguing with you about it? Let's murder them.
