BABY'S FIRST YULETIDE
Dear Yuletide Writer,
Thank you for signing up to write me a fic for one of these fandoms! I love you already for agreeing to do so. I have never participated in Yuletide before because it always seemed very complicated, but I gave in this year and am so excited to see what you come up with for me!
General things I like: Makeouts (who doesn't love a good makeout?)! Character studies, fic that explores different types of relationships, creating histories, stories in progress, slice-of-life fic, AUs--high school or college AUs in particular, AUs that fuse one universe with another, normally from a different movie or television show--poetic writing/descriptions, sharp, snappy dialogue, people who are dating who don't know they're dating but everyone else does, fake dating, circular and parallel structure, nonlinear narratives, people who can't stay away from each other whether healthy or not, and many other things.
Things I dislike: isms, slut-shaming, stories where the ending doesn't feel earned/is too easy, character bashing and tearing one relationship down to build up another.
HAPPY ENDINGS, [Alex Kerkovich, Dave Rose]
This show is an absolute delight and I am in love with the main group's friendship. It's probably the show currently bringing me the most joy. I limited my request to Dave and Alex because I love their relationship and would really like fic that explores it, that delves into their history or that moves forward with them, now that they've learned who they are as individuals and learned who the other person is, fic that discusses how being together now isn't the easy choice or falling back into what's known. Now they know each other better and have to re-navigate their relationship. I would love something that's fun and ridiculous and in line with the show.
If you don't enjoy them together, Alex-centric fic of any sort would be fantastic because she is without a doubt my favorite character. I would love a character study that delves into her and how she got to where she is or how she got to the place she was in when the show started. And feel free to write gen. fic about the entire group because I do love them so much, especially Brad and Jane and their relationship. The only thing I really wouldn't want to read is fic that centers around Max or Dave/Penny.
SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE RPF, [Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, Amy Poehler, Jimmy Fallon]
FEEL FREE (aka I would definitely encourage you, if you would like) TO INCLUDE BILL HADER AND TINA FEY AND OTHER CAST MEMBERS, BUT ESPECIALLY BILL AND TINA IN ANY FIC YOU WOULD WRITE.
That being said, any fic that puts the cast in high school or college would be great--going to parties and late night studying that might include more inside jokes and procrastination than actual studying, feeling out different relationships and what their futures will hole, especially if they're in college, and if you go the high school route you could include prom. Whatever you did with either of those ideas would be sure to be delightful. But for the SNL cast I am usually into so many different AUs. Would love a Bridesmaids AU or a Happy Endings/New Girl/Friends/Cougar Town/any comedy ever AU. Basically any AU. Of course you can always just delve into the SNL-of-it-all and the behind the scenes stuff and getting ready for shows and the cast hanging out and going to the after parties.
Things I ship: Kristen Wiig/Bill Hader, Tina Fey/Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey/Amy Poehler, could be into side (especially one-sided from Seth's pov) Amy Poehler/Seth Meyers, Andy Samberg/Rashida Jones (Rashida always counts, right?), etc etc.
PARKS AND RECREATION, [Andy Dwyer, April Ludgate]
I find that there is a sad lack of fic for these two, so I am game for pretty much anything you would be willing to give me. I would love to see them both working toward their futures, toward their career goals--Andy becoming a cop and April doing whatever it is she wants to do--and helping and supporting each other along the way. I would love any sort of fic dealing with them having a baby, and this is probably the only pairing I would ever want kid fic for. I would love fic from their time in season two when they both like each other and are dealing with their feelings and there's great pining/angst. I would love happy, domestic fic. I would love some sort of AU, like a Friends with Benefits AU or any other one you could possible think of. ANYTHING GOES.
FREAKS AND GEEKS, [Lindsay Weir, Daniel Desario]
I would love fic about these two coming to terms with their feelings for each other, accidentally kissing in autoshop or woodshop because Daniel's working on something there at the last minute and Lindsay comes to talk to him about something and whoops! kissing! And then the two of them dealing with the consequences of that--or you could just write them making out in autoshop because makeouts!--having to tell Kim and Nick, especially, and how their relationship affects the group dynamic and their other friendships. I would love them growing with each other and learning from each other. And if it ultimately ends up that they're not right for each other and they part, I would love that, too. I would love it to respect the bond they have and to be bittersweet and the two of them going their separate ways because sometimes relationships just don't work out.
Obviously all of these ideas are just that, ideas and suggestions to help you. If you find them limiting or you have another idea, go for it! If you have fun writing it then I'm sure I'll enjoy reading it.
I don't really have an active delicious account, but I have bookmarked a few fics I've enjoyed (and/or planned to read) here. I also love anything written by these authors, among others: summerstorm, marketchippie, amathela, gdgdbaby,anythingbutgrey, empressearwig, irishmizzy, torigates, miss_bennie, mozarts_friend and cashewdani.
