Having heard the radio, one fact remained in Mina's mind: That the esteemed Dale Cooper was preoccupied with important business. This meant, most likely, that Charlotte was left to her own defense.

So she came over, fully dressed for a fight, and knocked on the door.

"Charlotte?" she said.

Well, Charlotte had successfully managed to forget the zombies up until that point. She was pretty sure her heart actually stopped for two seconds when she heard the knock. She knew that she'd definitely jumped out of her skin for three.

"...Carrie?" she whispered into the phone with quiet trepidation. "I...let me call you back."

She hung up, but kept her hands tight around the cordless phone as she stared at the door.

One part of her said to just be quiet, so they didn't know she was there. Of course, fear made that part a lot weaker to the stupider part of the brain.

"Um," she said, then called out, "no. No one's home. Better try somewhere else, thank you!"

Oh, Charlotte was absolutely no good at this sort of thing, especially not when she had a wedding to start planning. She sucked in a breath, annoyed with having to deal with it right now.

"Is that a trick question?"
