First things first, introductions. Hello, my new shipmates, and a good day to you all- my name is Mary Poppins, and I look forward to making your acquaintance. Or acquaintances, since there are quite a lot of people aboard, I see ( Read more... )

[asdfaa omg Mary Poppins. Molly is shocked and thrilled to meet you, and her inner child is flailing.]

It's nice to meet you, Mary. The Admiral is kind of unusual, but you... get used to it. [Provided he's not doing that creepy stalker thing] Eventually. I'm Molly Carpenter, by the way. If you need any help settling in, please don't hesitate to ask. My dog and I are very friendly.

Hm. Well, I cannot say I haven't met my fair share of unusual people. It's very nice to meet you, Molly.

Since you did offer...I was hoping I might enlist someone to give me a tour of the ship?

I'd be happy to. I have a large, friendly dog that would love the exercise. If you don't mind him, I can definitely show you around.

Oh, do you? I wouldn't mind at all, quite the contrary.Let's meet up on deck first, perhaps in ten minutes' time?

{In the midst of his front room and all of its animals, Doctor Dolittle takes his hat off to you.} Greetings, madam! I am John Dolittle-doctor, if you wish to adhere to formalities-and it is excellent to meet. We've only just arrived ourselves and, my word but there is a lot to explore on this ship. There is a deck simply of gardens and meadows and I cannot recommend it enough.

{The video feed from her end crackles once, a flickerflash of snow perturbing Mary's image before smoothing out. She smiles pleasantly, eyes alight.}

A pleasure to meet you, Doctor! Really, a meadow aboard a ship? Your animals must be quite taken with it; what a fine menagerie you have!

Yes, it's really quite astounding, a meadow aboard a ship. On my last sea voyage my azaleas were the only comparison-no comparison, honestly, to the staggering size of wilds there. You will simply have to see it for yourself. Polynesia was quite taken with it, I assure you.

{And he picks Polynesia up, the large blue and yellow parrot, giving her a smile.} It's important for the birds to have enough room to spread their wings, otherwise they become terribly restless.

{Birds! Mary is particularly fond of birds.}

Oh, she's lovely. I've found that one certainly can trust a bird's opinion on meadows.

{She finds herself with more questions to ask, and a niggling impatience with the cine camera screen.}

Doctor, would you care to take tea with me?

And it's a really clean one.

A reputation already? I- oh. {She might just be preening.} Well, I cannot say I haven't well-cultivated it. Might I ask why you believe it would reflect poorly on yourself?

{Mary has known one or two quiet souls in her day. She plunges ahead.} What has brought you here, if you don't mind my asking?

How do you do, Miss Poppins. This ship is indeed quite excellent, the real Tabasco, even though there isn't a shuffleboard on deck. There is, however, a lovely meadow behind one of the doors and a view of cosmic...if cosmic is the word I want...proportions.

Toodle-pip,

Bertie Wooster

A pleasure to meet you, Bertie. Doctor Dolittle mentioned the meadow to me, yes, and it does sound quite beautiful. I shall have to see it for myself at this rate.

You play shuffleboard, I presume?
